Eating Organic

When the average American hears the words “organic food” they usually picture a hippie from the seventies. The reality is that our society is starting to look towards an alternative way of eating.

Most people do not wish to have genetically altered foods filled with countless pesticide chemicals or growth hormones on their dinner plate anymore. Eating organic has numerous benefits for the body as well as the environment.

Organic produce is grown without conventional pesticides or fertilizers made with synthetic ingredients. This prevents you from ingesting any man made toxins that have been shown to cause cancer.

Organic meat, poultry, and dairy assures you that the animals are given no antibiotics or growth hormones, because if something is injected or fed into them, it ends up in you.

Now the benefits of eating organic go beyond avoiding artificial components, it also provides a more sound nutrition product. Organic produce has been shown to contain 30-50% more nutrients when compared to non-organic. Organic brings us back to the original food that Mother Nature intended for us before we starting improving it for mass production.

The organic farmers help the environment by preventing soil erosion and soil pollution. Their methods allow the soil to be filled with nutrients and not chemicals, which then allows more nutrients to transfer to the food.

Eating organic food helps bring a balance to the body and environment. It is hard to believe that adding man made chemicals and hormones to our food source could possibly bring any good outside of company profit. Our current method of mass food production is polluting the water, ground, and food.

The good news is that it is slowly changing. Next time you shop for food, look for the USDA Organic sticker. This is the only way to be sure it is organic.
